CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATES

In response to the ongoing concern from coronavirus (COVID-19) Rhythmic Gymnastics Manitoba will be cancelling all sanctioned events prior to March 31st, 2020. 

Western Regional Championships

Both Eastern and Western Regional Championships have been cancelled. Please note that Gymnastics Canada has created a page on its website to keep the community up-to-date on the latest developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Please consult this page for any and all updates:

GymCan staff, along with the Technical Program Committee, will amend the qualification structure for Canadian Championships and will communicate the updated structure in the near future.

Practices

We have received official notice that all bookings at the University of Manitoba have been cancelled effective Friday, March 13 at 10 p.m. Clubs have received notice from the Winnipeg School Division that permits are cancelled through to April 13.

RGM is recommending that clubs cancel practices to mitigate risk. RGM will continue to monitor the status of this and will provide updates when available.

Future Events

Future events such as the Provincial Championships and coaching courses will be reviewed at an on-going basis and will provide an update when one is available.

Team Manitoba at Elite Canada 2020

Rhythmic Gymnastics Manitoba is pleased to announce the team of gymnasts representing Manitoba at Elite Canada 2020.

Who: Novice: Athena Johnson, Seniors: Grace Francis, Anastasia Kurakin, Samantha Pfeil, Alexandra Yarema. They will also be joined by Manitoba judges Shari Hebert, Tracy Sterdan, and Zdravka Tchonkova.

What: Elite Canada is held to determine the top junior and senior rhythmic gymnasts in Canada. It is the first opportunity for gymnasts to qualify for the Canadian Championships, serves as selection for the athletes that will represent Canada at major international competitions, and determines who competes in the High Performance category made up of the top 15 athletes in the Junior and Senior categories.

When: February 12-16, 2020

Where: Fortius Sport & Health Centre, Burnaby, BC.
