MB Team to NationalsRhythmic Gymnastics Manitoba is pleased to announce the athletes headed to compete at the 2013 Canadian National Championships in Ottawa, from May 17-21.

Novice: Grace Francis and Alexandra Yarema

Junior: Meaghan Matthews, Camille Silver and Kaedyn Lashley

Senior: Kennedy Merrill, Sydney Yeroschak and Danielle Stepnuk

2013 Trophy Recipients

Heather Willoughby Trophy – Presented to the club that accumulates the highest total of All-Around scores – HPTCI 532.946.

Zlatica Stauder Trophy – Presented to the individual who scores the highest score of the competition in one single event – Danielle Stepnuk  (Senior – HPTC Int. ) – Hoop (13.450)

Emelia Reddy Trophy – Presented to the National Stream Group that achieves the highest score of the competition- Sapphires Junior Group of Four – Amy Milne, Megan Polden, Mamie Kroeker-Tom, Nicole Taylor (14.916)

Thelma Kojima Trophy – Presented to the Provincial Stream Group that achieves the highest score of the competition – Sapphires Senior Trio – Mikayla Trojan, Aimee Lagimodiere, Samantha Stevenson – 18.050

Sport Manitoba Night of Champions

SHebertSport Manitoba’s annual Night of Champions recognizes the remarkable achievements of our province’s athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers in amateur sport. The sport award recipients announced on April 30, 2013 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre included rhythmic gymnastics high performance coach Shari Hebert! Shari was a finalist in the Peter Williamson Train to Compete-Train to Win Category, and the Sport Manitoba Night of Champions Female Coach of the Year.

Two of Manitoba’s rhythmic gymnastics coaches were recognized at the 2013 Woman of Distinction Awards, held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Emily Richard was nominated in the category of Young Woman of Distinction, and Zdravka Tchonkova was nominated in the category of Wellness, Healthy Living & Recreation.
