Nominations open for RGM Board of Directors

Rhythmic Gymnastics Manitoba is seeking individuals to join the Board of Directors. The positions up for election in June 2016 are as follows:

VP Finance                                       1 year term

Events Chairperson                        1 year term

VP Marketing                                  2 year term

Elite Development                         2 year term

Athlete Representative                2 year term

Officials Chair                                2 year term

Community Development           2 year term

VP Technical                                    2 year term

The Officials Chair shall be elected at the AGM by registered judges, and the Athlete Representative will be elected by registered athletes. All other positions will be voted on at the AGM by all eligible members.

Registered members of Rhythmic Gymnastics Manitoba are invited to nominate members of the organization to fill any of the above positions by completing the Nominating Form and Profile – 2016. The nomination form and nominee profile must be submitted to RGM office (email: rgm.ed@sportmanitoba.ca, fax: 925-5703) no later than: 5:00 PM Monday, May 2, 2016.

#SplitsDay

On Wednesday, February 10th, gymnasts all across Canada took part in #SplitsDay! This event was part of the 2016 Canadian Gymnastics Week. RGM had a contest for the most creative photo or video on our Facebook and Instagram page.

Elite Canada 2016

PrintOn February 12-14, Canada’s top rhythmic gymnastics athletes will come together in Richmond, BC for the 2016 Elite Canada Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition. For the first time, the event will feature athletes from the Novice category, who are invited to compete for the title of Elite Canada Champion.

In the Junior and Senior categories, Elite Canada serves as 35% of the ranking for National Team, and also identifies the top 15 athletes who are named to the High Performance category and have direct entry to the Canadian Championships in Winnipeg.

Manitoba will be represented by the following athletes:

Novice: Anna Fradkov, Samantha Pfeil, Cindy Chang

Junior: Anna Belle Richards, Alexandra Yarema, Anastasia Kurakin, Alexys Purdie, Justine Kolody, Grace Francis

Senior: Kaedyn Lashley, Meaghan Matthews

Junior Development Group: Anna Belle Richards, Anastasia Kurakin, Justine Kolody, Delainey Thiessen, Samantha Pfeil

Order of Rotation (Updated February 10)

Helioupolis Cup 2016

Vantage PointsAlexys Purdie, Alexandra Yarema, Cindy Chang, Samantha Pfeil and Veronika Yegorova represented Canada at the 9th Helioupolis Cup in Greece on January 15-17, 2016. They were joined by Coach Emily Richard and judge Zdravka Tchonkova.

There were 47 gymnasts competing in the pre-junior (Canadian Novice) category. Samantha Pfeil placed 5th in the Pre-Junior All-Around, Hoop 16th (11.150), Ball 5th (11.350), and a silver finish in clubs 2nd – 12.450. Veronika Yegorova finished in 11th All-Around, Hoop 17th (11.050), Ball 9th (10.950), Clubs 8th (11.100). Cindy Chang finished in 17th All-Around, Hoop 25th (10.550), Ball 13th (10.600), Clubs 10th (11.050).

In the Junior category there were 45 competitors, Alexys Purdie finished with Hoop 15th (10.700), Ball 6th (13.000), Clubs 10th (12.050). Alexandra Yarema competed Rope 14th (10.500), Hoop 9th (11.650), Clubs 9th (12.200).
